Austrian Hymn - Carl Attrup (1848-1892)

I was incredibly shocked when I realised that we’ve so far never offered a composition from any of the Nordic countries. And, as so many organ lovers who use the Musical Contribution come from there, we’ve decided to change that, starting today.

Carl Attrup was a Danish musician. He originally played the cello, but switched to organ during his studies at the conservatoire. And I can understand why. We don’t know too much about him, although we do know that he composed several volumes of studies and a short ‘Orgelschule’.

This month, we have an Austrian Hymn, the melody of which is credited to none other than Joseph Haydn. We’re presenting two variations now. There’ll be another two at a later stage and a concluding chorale.

Registration instructions can be found in the sheet music. But feel free to let your creativity run wild! And also feel free to send us a response via a.vanvliet@solcon.nl

Kind regards,

André
