Grand Choeur Edmond Lemaigre (1849-1890)
Many composers have written works with this title. With or without an addition. A grand organ sound is almost always specified, as you would presume from the title. The different compositions vary enormously in terms of length. We have come across arrangements of 10 minutes, but the arrangement we’re offering this month lasts around 1.30. In my opinion, it is meant to be used as an intrada:
-when the bride and groom enter the church
-when the preacher/pastor/priest arrives
-at the start of a concert
As a listener, I would be delighted with this and would look forward in anticipation to the other festive treats on offer.
